Rail companies in London regularly rob unsuspecting travellers through the unfair penalty charge of £20 (that can go up, astronomically, if ignored).
RAIL COMPANIES NEED TO ANNOUNCE THE LAST STATION WHERE OYSTER CARD IS VALID.
I travelled from a Woolwich Arsenal Station in South East London to Greenhithe (I was on my way to Bluewater shopping centre.). Apart from my weekly Oyster travel card which covered only zones 3 and 4, I had topped up my Oyster card with some money. I knew my travel card wouldn't take me as far as Greenhithe but believed I would have money deducted from my card on arrival at my destination, since I 'touched in' at my station of departure. Little did I know that I was travelling through and to non A Oyster zone. As a result, I was fined £20.00
I asked the enforcement officer why it couldn't be announced on the train 'tannoy' when 'we' arrived at the last station where Oyster card was valid. Of course he had no answer because he might not have a job otherwise.
This may have happened to a lot innocent travellers with many tourists fallen victim of this kind of legalised corporate robbery WHICH NEEDS TO STOP.
