We, the undersigned, respond to the humanitarian alarm raised by the civil society in Oaxaca State, South-Western Mexico, before the armed attack by the state against the civil population according to http://redtdt.org.mx/?p=6350 From this we have reliable information that on the 19th of June an extremely violent action by the Mexican State repressing the teachers and the society that is organized in resistance in several zones of the multi-ethnic Oaxacan state including the Istmo de Tehuantepec, Nochixtlán and the City of Oaxaca.

As a result of excessive use of force at least 9 people died in Mixtec Native Mesoamerican region in Nochixtlán only, and there was at least a hundred injured and more than 20 arbitrarily detained.

The whereabouts of the people detained is still not known nor is the total number of the injured and detained nor disappeared. The medical attention was not guaranteed and there were reports of hindering the injured the access to care. The civil population had to put up medical stands in order to attend to the injured.

Recently a communitarian radio personality was murdered in the same context of the repression on the social movement, meaning those demanding improvement on the Human Rights in Mexico. http://www.resumenlatinoamericano.org/2016/06/27/mexico-asesinan-a-periodista-de-radio-comunitaria-en-oaxaca/

We fear that the State of Mexico continue with these violent actions. The Oaxacan civil society is worried about the arrival of the army and militarized police air planes to Oaxaca and the tension is rising every minute remembering the violent state repression of the Oaxacan Social Movement of 2006, rising from similar concerns.

Because of this, we unite with the demands of the Oaxacan civil society in their urgent action:

*End of the use of unsolicited and disproportionate force and repression against the Oaxacan teachers and the civil population who act using their right to the freedom of speech and freedom to demonstrate.

*Immediate installation of dialogue with the Oaxacan teachers.

*Immediate medical attention to those injured as a result of the violent actions of the state.

*Termination to the criminalization of the teachers, cancellation of all the detention orders against the Oaxacan teachers and immediate liberation of the teachers who have been arbitrarily and illegally detained.

*Punishment to those responsible for the arbitrary detentions, torture and other violations of the human rights against of the Oaxacan teachers.

We demand attention to the Human Rights issues raised by the Oaxacan Social Movement and the Human Rights to be properly addressed including a sincere dialogue meeting the demands of the civil society as Human Rights are concerned.

In solidarity with Oaxacan civil society and teachers,
