The tollway expansion project has been formally scrapped by the board. We are transitioning our efforts toward long-term monitoring of regional transit planning to ensure these specific tax and land-use proposals remain off the table.

I am concerned about protecting our well-being in Lake County, Illinois, and preserving our valuable land, air and water. Building the Rt. 53/120 extension would do neither. Instead, it would create financial hardships for residents, increase pollution-related health hazards, and impact more than 31,000 acres—more than in all Lake County Forest Preserves!

I am not in favor of:

· Raising tolls on I-94

· New tolls on I-94 at 137

· New tolls on I-94 at Deerfield Rd.

· $1500/yr tolls on 53 for a rush hour commute

Nor do I support:

· Higher tolls on I-294 and other tollways

· Raising my gas taxes

· Siphoning taxes away from schools

· Privatizing $400M worth of state land

Finally, I am concerned that the Illinois Tollway would fall over $1 billion short of the project's $2.6 billion construction cost—even after imposing all these new taxes and tolls!

Therefore, I urge you to reject the Rt. 53/120 extension. The costs are just too high!

I have submitted a formal request for a meeting with the regional planning board to discuss the projected funding shortfalls. We are currently drafting a letter to the planning commission that outlines the long term economic risks posed by these toll hikes.

In addition to the numerous issues already outlined, the Rt.53 extension would destroy the ambiance and quality of life that we came for in Lake County. I have always admired the wisdom of previous Lake County members in preserving the lands allowing habitat for native wildlife and humans , something we all need.

The smarter more economic solution is to widen existing east/west Lake Co roads to ease traffic. Building Rt. 53/120 is too expensive causing increased taxes and tolls for Lake Co residents & will cause irreversible environmental impact to our uniquely beautiful Lake County, water tables, etc.

The money that is already coming in needs to be handled with more fiscal responsibility. I've been around since 1950. I remember that tolls would only be around until the road was finished. There is no magic pay raise for all of the citizens you want to tax for this nonsense. Don't need it, and can't afford it.

I am totally opposed to this and will vote against anyone who supports this. I moved to Long Grove to avoid the environment issues associated with this extension. I will be discussing this issue will all of my neighbors.

The Rte. 53 tollway is not a viable option for our country roads, tall grass prairies and wetlands. It is those that spearheaded the creation of our national parks, preserves and natural wonders that are remembered to history, not those that voted to build highways. I vote NO way to those that are seeing this through.

Following the Northern Route 53 path along Routes 83 and 120 does not decrease the HUGE traffic congestion that currently exists. "They" say there WILL be tolls on Route 53! I'm still waiting for the "temporary taxes/tolls" to end on existing Expressways! STOP this foolishness!

I am appalled that this extension is still being considered. Create jobs and improve traffic flow by improving the roads we already have.
