Urge Landmark Designation of the (former) H. Nieberg Family Funeral Home!

As residents or supporters of the historic Lower East Side, we urge the Landmarks Preservation Commission to approve the Request for Evaluation and to calendar the historic (former) H. Nieberg Funeral Home, at 139-141 Ludlow Street, a building deserving of designation as an individual landmark of the City of New York.

As a distinctive commercial building, 139-141 Ludlow Street's remarkable Gothic-inspired architecture and terra-cotta façade, and its place within the cultural heritage of many groups on the Lower East Side, warrants preservation and protection as a New York City individual landmark.

We ask the LPC to honor a cultural and architectural treasure unmatched in the Lower East Side or in the city of New York.
