To the Mayor and Council
City of Kawartha Lakes

It is our opinion that the application to amend the Official Plan and Zoning to allow a  quarry at 2460 Monck Road adjacent to Rush and Heal Lakes should not be approved.  Our many concerns include:
  • the impact on the quality of life of residents
  • the potentially harmful impact on the surrounding wetlands and natural environment 
  • increased heavy truck traffic and related safety concerns 
  • the proposed quarry is inconsistent with the residential nature of the community
  • the proposal is not in the best interest of the City and taxpayers
