The government is proposing to abolish the current system of Council Tax Benefit and from April next year it will cut the money it provides to local authorities by 10%. Consequently, local councils are being placed in the unenviable position of wielding the axe on the benefits of some of the most vulnerable people in their community - at precisely the time when they need it most. We are calling on the government to rethink this unfair and ill thought out scheme.
