We the people of Queensland voice our disgust at the outrageous pay rises that the Queensland Remuneration Tribunal have granted to politicians. We reject any justification for these increases. When governments are making funding cutbacks to essential services and sending already struggling families below the poverty line, pay increases in excess of 20% are totally unacceptable. We request that the Queensland Remuneration Tribunal be abolished and replaced with a system whereby politicians wages will need to voted for unanimously. This would make politicians directly accountable for the remuneration the ask for and allow members to appose it if they wish.
