The 2007 Northern Territory Intervention was a Federal Government initiative aimed at Indigenous communities in the Northern Territory. The Australian Government established the Intervention as a means of protecting women and children from abuse. However, there is no evidence of any measures being taken to combat this supposed problem despite the $587 million funding provided.

Under this false pretence, the Federal Australian Government took control over the lives of Indigenous Australians. In 2012, the NT Intervention was extended and continues to rule over Indigenous Australians living in the Northern Territory.

In effect, the government now manage the income and property of Indigenous Australians in the Northern Territory and have placed widespread restrictions on things such as alcohol.
