The River Faughan is a designated Area of Special Scientific Interest (ASSI) and a Special Area of Conservation (SAC). The river and its banks are protected under Local and European Legislation against the damaging of the habitat. Recently, applications for the construction of 2 Hydro electricty plants on the river at the Sites of Ardmore and Ballyarton have been received by DOE NIEA. These 2 proposed developments will not only cause huge enviromental change to a protected habitat but will also cause a major threat to the species of fish and mamals that live in or on the river. I would like you to sign this petition that I plan to take to DOE, NIEA and the Loughs Agency. To show that there is great objection to the proposed schemes and the irrepairable damage that they will cause to the already protected surrounding habitat and the wild life with in it. Thank you
