URGENT!!!

YOUR help is needed.

Hong Kong Resorts is just days away from starting to build a new golf cart parking area, completely replacing the green lawn beside the tennis courts at DBRC. They plan to resume this area effective Thursday 24 March 2016. Less than two weeks notice of their plans has been given.

Quite simply, this will irreversibly change the DBRC tennis community dynamic and spirit. No longer will you be able to sit and watch matches, have drinks beside the courts, let you kids run free on the grass, and easily host away teams in HKTA league matches. Moreover, the ability to successfully hold marque events such as Nations Cup, Charity Cup and the Annual Club Championship are greatly diminished.

This is not the DBRC tennis facility I want or will enjoy in the future.

If you oppose this golf cart redevelopment at DBRC, please sign this petition immediately, and I will ensure it is delivered to the right people at HKR.

Yours faithfully,

Dr Richard Beck

Chairman, DBRC Tennis Advisory Committee

The momentum building behind this request reflects how deeply we value the open space surrounding our courts. We are nearing one hundred signatures and reaching this threshold will provide a clear signal to the management team that our community is united in preserving this area.

This space is important for social events and forms an integral part of the club. Overflow parking for buggies could revert to the space previously used which is now a car park for HKR vehicles and appears to have plenty of capacity.

Bear in mind that DBRC has just raised fees in the form of a 'junior membership fee' (if you are a single parent with 2 children your DBRC fees have just been raised in the region of 33%), while in parallel the club size and atmosphere is being degraded.

I object to build the golf cart parking at the lawn next to the tennis court. It's the only open area in the club that everyone can enjoy freely. With the parking, it would cause great danger to anyone, especially children to walk across to the tennis court

Please consider the community spirit this space engenders. Everyone benefits from the grassed area, players, children, families, sponsors of events, DBRC etc. To put in get another parking area will significantly change the spirit of the tennis club. It is not necessary.

This is one of few grass areas for people to enjoy in the heart of DB. We use it everyday for recreation and it is one of the best assets of being a DBRC member. Golf cart parking can be arranged elsewhere - please keep DBRC green!

The lawn is supposed to be part of the club. Why transform it to a carpark? Years ago they demolished 4 tennis courts to build the management office without letting us know. And now it's the lawn. We are paying a monthly fee of $600, HK Resort is still cutting our facilities!
