Patients will suffer if SERCO implements its proposals to cut 17% of jobs in Suffolk Community Healthcare.Suffolk Community Healthcare is regarded by the Department of Health as the best provider of community health services in the East of England - and in the top ten in the whole of England. SERCO has been managing the organisation since 1 October 2012. An analysis of proposed workforce structures distributed to all staff on 16 November shows that the company aims to achieve: a 20% reduction in band 3 generic health workers (75 whole time equivalent posts down from 93.5); a 17% reduction in physiotherapists (42 posts down from 50.5); a 15% reduction in band 5 community nurses (179 postsdown from 210); a 13% reduction in band 6 nurses such as specialist nurses and district nurses (56.5 postsdown from 65).Tim Roberts, regional organiser, said: "There is no way that Suffolk Community Healthcare can lose so many key professionals and maintain current services.
