We opposethe rezoning of 2107, 2111, and 2115 White Avenue from R6 to SP that would permit up to 8 residential dwelling units.

We have varying reasons for banding together in opposition to the rezoning including:

1. Preserving our historic neighborhood which is recognized on the National Register of Historic Places as “intact representation of an early-twentieth century streetcar suburb.” We believe that the proposed SP zoning does not fit with the historic land use patterns that define our unique neighborhood and is totally inconsistent with the spirit of the historic neighborhood design guidelines.

2. Protecting our neighbor’s privacy from having 3 cottages abutting their property lines.

3. Providing certainty that redevelopment is sensitive to wishes of our neighbors. Opposition has twice been voiced by our neighborhood association regarding the mass, scale, density, placement, and traffic impact of the proposed cottages. None of these concerns have been addressed by the developer after more than 7 months of discussions.

4. Maintaining affordable housing in a neighborhood that is rapidly becoming unaffordable to many of its residents.
