These bills are terrible ideas. They will create laws as draconian as China's laws and will allow the government or even private individuals to cause a website to be shut down on a mere allegation.
If someone claims a copyright violation, the web hosting service has five days to remove the website or be sued. Search engines are required to delete any reference to the site, so it cannot be found. All of this is done before the owner of the website even gets a day in court. Many websites are run by small business owners who cannot afford the incredible legal fees they would incur just to get their site back up and running.
These bills give the government the power to go in and shut down a website on the mere claim of an infringement. Does anyone really trust Barack Obama or Eric Holder with our free speech rights? Does anyone really trust them not to shut down sites they do not like?
We must tell Congress under no circumstances should these bills ever be passed. The Internet has become and amazing place to share ideas and to exercise free speech. These bills would kill free speech on the Internet and must be stopped.

The legislative process remains stagnant despite the clear opposition regarding these proposals. I have been communicating with legislative offices to emphasize that the community will not accept these infringements on speech.

Why should they be aloud to take this away??? Sometimes directors of our favorate books movies show plays anime manga games and just things we like in general, dont know how to do certin things look for us for help. Oh and sometines they hold contests because they dont know what new character to come up with or idea and dont know how to play it off right. Its not like were taking the rights and saying the show or movie ect.. is ours. Were showing our love for it. This stuff is made for our entertainment.
How about instead of trying to pass a useless bill to stop fanfiction, fanart, & fan videos meant to honor our favorites books, movies, tv shows, & various other pop culture generes you actually do something productive. We have people in this country who do not have places to live or enough to eat, yet this is what you choose to spend your time and effort on. Obviously you find that the pursuit of policing the internet is so much more beneficial then actually creating laws that will actually help your fellow man.
I want this act to censure any site to be stopped. There is a lot on the internet that people use for entertainment. It is not harmful and I do not want government to stop Fan Fiction because someone objects.
i am a fanfictioner and pretty dang proud of it and the gov needs to try to catch the perpetrators not but their nose were it is both unnecessary and unwanted we have done no wrong merely exercised or constitutional rights if the government can post on the web then so can we in our little groups.
There are many websites and art/roleplays that express bookworms and tv-lovers favorite things. This law will ban this and is taking away our love of animation/literature/filming. Without these, there would be less business for the novels or films because (and I should know) a lot of advretisment comes from fanfictions or fanart that is posted online. Please do not pass this law, I plead for you not to.

It's completely wrong to take away a person right to expression. Fanfiction and fanart are not acts of piracy, but acts based on free speech AND adoration for the works of the originals. Our expressions of application for the characters and their creators. Leave us alone. Thank you.
