The HBO Series Breaking Bad has brought and continues to bring one of its host cities Albuquerque, New Mexico (my home town), millions of dollars in revenue supporting the local economy. So its no surprise that many small and local businesses have jumped on the Breaking Bad bandwagon to cash in on its success. One local business The Candy Lady is creating bagged rock candy made to look like and resembles crystal meth. I believe it is the responsibility for parents to educate their children about the dangers of drugs. But they get no support from businesses like this that create candy looking like and resembling drugs, take for example candy cigarettes. The Candy Lady has been in many papers defending her stance, including NPR. She even made "meth props" for the actual HBO Series for the first two seasons. Her position on the topic is tragic, especially sense a death overdose has effected her and her family personally, as she shared with NPR. http://www.npr.org/2013/08/11/210672887/faux-meth-is-big-business-in-breaking-bad-town I offered my support to help brainstorm alternative ideas so she could continue to enjoy cashing in on the Breaking Bad series. And suggested she donate 100% of the profits (they are $1 a bag), to a charity that educates and rehabilitates drug users. She has not taken me up on my offer. Join me if you agree that The Candy Lady is sending the wrong message. Sign and share this petition if you believe The Candy Lady should stop selling her "Breaking Bad The Experience" rock candy. Join me in asking her to find an alternative and give back to charities supporting drug education and rehabilitation in Albuquerque. Thank you for your support. Jenny Lefebvre
