Roadside mowing of milkweed patches is devastating to the Monarch butterfly. They are totally dependent upon this plant as a food source.It would be simple to mow around these patches during the summer months, then mow them after the Monarchs have completed their reproduction cycle. I am in favor of mowing around, not through, designated Monarch Milkweed Patches (MMP). Volunteers could identify MMP and put up "Do Not Mow" signs by them.
