Dear Department of Education

I am speaking for my brother's and sisters when I say this.

Us the black children who attend both Model C and Private schools have been victims of racial oppression, we are told that our natural hair is to messy,untidy and not presentable.Our grandparents fought for us to indeed express ourselves the way we want.

I go to a private school that tells us not to have dreads,fades and braids.I fail to understand why the white children are allowed to have kinky hairstyles and nothing is said about.

I believe that our schools are still oppressed because a black child is seen to be breaking school rules when expressing her/himself freely

We ask you the Department of Education to scrap out the rules regarding hair in all schools .The constitution allows us to express ourselves in a nonviolent way so why should the black child cut their hair as they are just practicing this right.
