Thus too often we hear complaints of Tribal gillnetters on the Columbia river. Senators Huffman, Merkley, have had hundreds of complaints in their office about #1. tribal members not checking nets according to rules, #2. netting all fish that swims into the nets.#3. Not part of their Treaty, its an (agreement) with the Oregon state. This agreement should be revoked, or put into vote with the Oregon voters. As we see more fees (higher) for sports fisherman, more rules where and where not to fish. Yet tribal members are handed a sliver plate by our Gov. Kitzhaber, this needs tobe taken out of his hands and into the voters hands. The tribal gillnets are Not part of the Treaty, its an agreement with the states of Oregon and Washington, Oregon needs to revoke such agreement. If Gov Kitzhaber can stop commercial fishing on the Columbia this should be also for all Tribal members who sell fish without a commercial lic. By your signature on this petition as a reg voter in Oregon will help correct this double standard rule our Oregon Government. Please take you time and sign this petition to help make it fair for all Oregon people, tribal and non-tribal. Again Gillnetting is not part of the tribal treaty, its an agreement with the state, without the voters approval, and should be revoked.
