Biotech giants Monsanto, Dow and Bayer have recently published a children's book to brainwash kids into thinking that genetically-modified (GM) crops can actually be good for your health and the environment! Yes that's right Monsanto, Bayer & co are now writing "educational" books for children. If you don't believe me, take a look at the booklet for yourself on: www.uprb.edu/biotecnologia/docs/38-0905MONActivityBook.pdf . Of course, the book completely fails to mention the fact that serious scientists have linked the use of GMOs to a wide variety of problems such as organ damage, digestive disorders and autoimmune diseases in humans. The book also conveniently forgets to mention that the herbicide used to grow GM crops has been shown to contaminate groundwater and harm birds and other small mammals. It is no wonder that Biotech companies don't want to confront children with that nasty reality. Through colourful images, games and word scrambles, the "Biotechnology Basics Activity Book" is basically trying to con children into thinking that GM Foods are safe. It even includes a teaching aid, so that the book can be used in schools! We need to STOP misinformation on GMOs and appeal to our Secretary of Education (Arne Duncan) and our Secretary of Health (Kathleen Sebelius) to:

*set up an information campaign to raise awareness among kids about the REAL risks and dangers of GMOs.

*make children aware of the use of misinformation as propaganda financed by the very companies that have something to gain from it!
