After being a loyal customer for over 10 years and holding 275 successful meetups helping singles meet in Ventura County Meetup has decided to change Community Guidelines and policies so that Dating services are not allowed on Meetup. These services and events include, but are not limited to, speed dating, dating clinics, matchmaking, and date coaching. We were not given any notice of these changes and have been given 7 days to cancel all of our events and notify our 1,763 members of the forced closure of our group. The only events we hold that violate Meetups new policy is SpeedDating when we asked if we could remove the SpeedDating events and promise not to post them again could we keep our group we were told " Generally, although we appreciate a willingness to update a Meetup group, decisions regarding the status of groups are final."

We live in a country where we are given freedom of choice, if one chooses to go to a speeddating event, matchmaker, dating clinic, or dating coach, let them. Here is a link to meetups specific changes: http://www.meetup.com/help/article/2426608/

Please sign this petition and e-mail support@meetup.com to help us let Meetup know that we are unhappy with the new policy and that they should revoke it or at least let grandfathered groups that joined prior to the policy change stay.
