In January 2016, national media attention was drawn to the fact that a small handful of self identified "furries" were engaging in lewd and lascivious behavior in respect to Tony the Tiger, the mascot of the Frosted Flakes brand, a Kellogg's Company cereal on Twitter. In an effort to stop this activity, executives at the Kellogg's Company took broad sweeping punitive action against all Twitter accounts which appeared in whole or in part to have any activity associated with the furry fandom, including blocking a large number of users which had no involvement in the incidents described. As a larger number of furries were blocked, the resulting media frenzy and response to the "Tony the Tiger situation" resulted in extremely foul press for both the Kellogg's brand and the furry fandom at large. These actions of Kellogg's corporation against all furries, not only the ones who were involved in these actions, continues to this day.

We believe that the individuals who were engaged in this despicable behavior are insipid and selfish individuals that do not represent the furry fandom at large, it's message or it's sense of charity and purpose. Over the last twenty years, furry fandom participants have organized and donated millions of dollars to animal rehabilitation and relief organizations around the world, and helped to shelter foster animals from abuse, neglect and euthanasia. We have brought wealth to local communities through our gatherings and partnerships with city councils, commerce and business organizations. In 2014, the furry fandom came together and helped save a local business (Fernando's Cafe) in Pittsburgh, PA through personal donations, as the owner (Fernando DeCarvalho) was a supporter of his local community and the furry fandom.

Members of our furry organizations have included professionals and students of every age and background. In 2013 the furry fandom lost one of it's rising stars, Lemonade Coyote (Timothy McCormick), an Indianapolis, IN EMS worker who was respected in his state and his country as a servant of the people who had aided or saved hundreds of lives in his short life. His death was mourned by hundreds of public officials, state delegates and dignitaries from around the country, in a show of solidarity no matter his sexual preference or affiliation with the furry fandom.

We believe in imagination, freedom of expression and freedom of self-identity. We support the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transsexual and trans-gendered community. We believe in enriching and culturing society through the arts. We have worked hard establishing connections and communities both locally and around the world to further our purpose and support an environment of love and friendship which has been experienced by individuals all over the world.

We believe that Kellogg's corporations response to the actions of a handful of individuals to our fandom as a whole is a foul and excessive act that is dishonest and disingenuous at it's core. We demand that Kellogg's acknowledge their errors and apologize to the furry fandom for taking such broad sweeping action against the fans of their mascot and cereal brand, and issue an apology for the extreme over-reach of their social media directors and associates.

Further, until Kellogg's addresses the fact that this was a small number of individuals and did not represent the furry fandom at large, we pledge and affirm that we will no longer purchase any products of the Kellogg's, Keebler, or Sunshine Biscuits Company, nor will our children or their children purchase or enjoy these products, nor will our stocks or investment portfolios include these companies or their affiliated organizations.
