We, the undersigned, are strongly opposed to the self-serving application by Nichols Auto Parts, #16-098, currently before the Clinton Planning & Zoning Commission which seeks to allow stockpiling of woodchips on the property located at 46 Meadow Road, Clinton.

The applicant has in fact already been stockpiling huge amounts of woodchips on the property, in violation of Clinton zoning regulations. This has been brought to the attention of the Clinton Zoning Enforcement Officer.

The applicant has a history of not properly maintaining the property. This has caused much stress for neighboring property owners.

The Clinton Plan of Conservation & Development includes, as a primary goal, the maintenance of the town’s appearance and safety. This proposed amendment would do nothing to further that goal. Rather, it would potentially further diminish the appearance of the property and present a potentially serious fire hazard.

Furthermore, I strongly feel that adoption of this self-serving amendment to the regulations would further reduce the quality of life and property values in the area. I, therefore, ask that the Clinton Planning & Zoning Commission deny the application.
