Gas prices on I10 in kimble County consistenly for many years have remained 10 percent higher than those in surrounding communities, even smaller, remoter places like Harper. Off the interstate, prices hold steady at about 5%. Not only is this a hardship for local people, but is a disincintive for travelers to stop, buy gas, eat, shop, and otherwise contribute to our economy. Before I10 looped around town, there were 3 service stations on almost every intersection of main street. Junction was a booming town! Now with gas prices so much higher than those in surrounding counties, a frugal traveler will pass us by. Our entire county would benefit it gas prices here never exceded 1-2% of adjoining counties.
