Dear Ms Spelman Despite massive public opposition, Hertfordshire County Council have gone ahead with a procurement process aimed at building an incinerator at New Barnfield. They have signed a contract with Veolia, who have now lodged a planning application for this facility. We ask that you withdraw the PFI funding credits for this incinerator which has no public support. The county council's consultation process was flawed as they did not attend anti-incineration events, and their online consultation portal was difficult to use. PFI is an expensive form of funding which would burden the taxpayers at a sensitive economic time. We, the undersigned state our objections to this initiative and ask that the funding be withdrawn while public opposition is guaged and alternative solutions to Hertfordshire's waste problems are considered.
