Mostafa Shaabani was born and raised in Iran. He is considered as one of those groomed under the strict Islamic guidance, but turned modern and secular, aspires democracy and an egalitarian society. During the summer of 2007, while the pressure on common man in Iran had increased, two friends decide to form a group to promote the freedom of expression in Iran. They intend to disseminate information to people and further the cause of non-violent struggle to gain their negated rights. At the same time, Mostafa and His friend M Javadi extend their support to the under attack Swedish Cartoonist Artist Lars Vilks, whom they thought was one of the activists who was support the just struggle of people under dictatorial regimes. They distributed pamphlets denouncing the attacks and decrees against Vilks. This obviously did not humor the authorities. The members of the group were persecuted, some were detained and others went in to hiding. Mostafa used some help and went to Sweden, where sought asylum from the Swedish government. His claim was rejected due to lack of proper identity cards. Mostafa answered his friends call in Canada who was battling with cancer to attend on him and to be on his bed side. On arrival, the Canadian Border Security forces recognized him, and allowed him to apply for refugee protection in Canada. The Immigration Refugee Board (IRB) however, invoked to the Swedish Refugee authorities’ decision and rejected his claim, Mostafa now was in possession of his proper national Identity card, nevertheless IRB stock to its gun and rejected his case in September 2011. Presence of Christians in Mostafa’s life, include his friend fighting for his life against the cancer, and belief in their faith, inspired and influenced Mostafa to the extent that in the Winter of 2011 officially converted to the new faith. On 29th of June 2012 the Canadian Immigration Law underwent further changes curtailing the rights of claimants to appeal and seek remedies. Mostafa thus unable to use his rights to appeal the decision rendered by IRB, was the subject of removal from Canada. He was summoned to the immigration removal office and he attends on 25th July 2102, but he fears the return to Iran as he faces deadly consequences if he does and states so. He is detained and Immigration department has procured a Ticket with KLM for him for Aug. 28th at 11.05 PM to send him to Iran. Immigration officials have stated to have the full cooperation of the Islamic Regime’s Embassy for the required permits, to deliver the victim to the possible gallows.
