As a citizen and taxpayer of the State of Tennessee, I petition the Governor, the State Board of Education, the State School Superintendent, and the Tennessee General Assembly to take every action necessary to rescind the state’s participation in Race to the Top, the Common Core State Standards Initiative, any agreement to share student data with the federal government or any other governmental or private entity, any national-testing consortium, and any scheme (such as No Child Left Behind waivers) that requires such participation. Tennessee’s citizens, who pay approximately $8 billion annually in state and local taxes for education, have the constitutional right to exercise 100 percent control over the content standards in our public schools through our duly elected representatives in the Tennessee Senate and the Tennessee House.

Be sure to watch this:
Gov Haslam on Common Core
He states "Common Core has been proven to work."
Really? Where? Since they are so obsessed with data, "Show us the Data." It doesn't exist. Common Core was never piloted or tested. Anywhere.
STOP Common Core in TN!!!! NOT IN THE BEST INTEREST OF OUR CHILDREN.
Common core is destroying our educational system and taking all creativity away for teachers and students...it must be stopped !
I am disappointed with my child's education under Common Core. I have watched my her excitement about school and passion for learning dwindle to practically nothing since common core standards and methods were implemented. Each morning starts with tears as she dreads another day of endless scripted writing and formulaic analyzing. She's bored, uninspired, exhausted, and stifled. My child's education should be so much more than this.
Jeni1 week ago Comments: I am not a parent yet nor a teacher or anyone affiliated with the schooling system of TN. However, I am against common core and feel it needs to be removed from TN schools as well as every other state in this country! At this point, I do not feel comfortable sending my future child to public schools.

- 1/14/2014 ACTION ITEM NOW! CALL YOUR LEGISLATOR! Go here to find your legislator: http://www.capitol.tn.gov/legislators/ #StopCommonCore Tuesday is the first day of the new Legislative Session. Let's show them we are serious about getting rid of Common Core. Call your State Representative and Senators, asking them to please support bills to get rid of Common Core. If they are against Common Core, thank them for their support. After contacting them, please send us a message and let us know what their responses were. This will help us later when bills come to a vote (if they get that far), on where to concentrate our efforts. It is VERY IMPORTANT for you to get involved in this fight. Big Business/Big Money/Big Government is fighting us all the way. Involved citizens are the only way we will win this fight. Please Share! We need you to call!
