As a citizen and taxpayer of the State of New York, I petition the Governor, the State Board of Education, the State School Superintendent, and the New York General Assembly to take every action necessary to rescind the State’s participation in Race to the Top, the Common Core State Standards, any agreement to share student data with the federal government or any other governmental or private entity, any national-testing consortium , and any scheme (such as No Child Left Behind waivers) that requires such participation. New York’s citizens, who pay approximately $13 billion annually in state and local taxes for education, have the constitutional right to exercise 100 percent control over the content standards in our public schools through our duly elected representatives in the New York Senate and the New York House.
CC has to go! Our kids are stressed. Our teachers are stressed. WE are all stressed!
Stop common core! Not every child is common, let learning be fun again!
Common Core is age inappropriate, a corporate backed plan to undermine the public school system, and is only being implemented to privatize education and line the pockets of the corporate backers.

Aleta Baker13 hours ago Comments: My grandchildren struggle so much with this math and many of the teachers cannot seem to help them or take the time to do it! How does this stupid New York State expect our children to get better grades with a worthless type of math such as this. We the people should strike against New York State and keep all of our kids out of school for one day and then maybe these so called self righteous politicians will listen. We need to march on the state capital!
