As a citizen and taxpayer of the State of New York, I petition the Governor, the State Board of Education, the State School Superintendent, and the New York General Assembly to take every action necessary to rescind the State’s participation in Race to the Top, the Common Core State Standards, any agreement to share student data with the federal government or any other governmental or private entity, any national-testing consortium , and any scheme (such as No Child Left Behind waivers) that requires such participation. New York’s citizens, who pay approximately $13 billion annually in state and local taxes for education, have the constitutional right to exercise 100 percent control over the content standards in our public schools through our duly elected representatives in the New York Senate and the New York House.
CC has to go! Our kids are stressed. Our teachers are stressed. WE are all stressed!
Stop common core! Not every child is common, let learning be fun again!
Common Core is age inappropriate, a corporate backed plan to undermine the public school system, and is only being implemented to privatize education and line the pockets of the corporate backers.

I am totally against it. I have 14 and 11 years old children and I worry very much for their future.
Laura P.12 hours ago Comments: Seriously, I can't believe more people aren't signing this petition. My ten year old writes me notes that say "I HATE MY LIFE" because of his MATH HOMEWORK. Thanks NYS Common Core, because of the load of homework he has every night and the stress of being lost in his Math class we have even less time together as a family now than ever. But you know...whatever is more important. I know we have to keep up with the Jones', so to speak. Jerks.
