The company of Lindt gets most of their cocoa beans from western Africa. More specifically, from the country of Ivory Coast. If you think that this information is useless, did you ever think about WHO exactly takes care of the crops? If the answer to the previous question is no, then you probably did not know that Lindt uses child slaves to get the cocoa beans they need to make their chocolate. These children can be as young as 11 years old (or even younger than that), and they are forced to work in harsh conditions, 12 hours a day (from 6am to 6pm) , and often suffering beatings by their masters. This leads to physical and mental troubles. Often these children have been trafficked from their homes, sometimes even from other countries. Their parents sold them at an incredibly low price because they thought that the children could help bring some money to their impoverished family. I believe that it is not right to mistreat children like that, so to help in the support of making Lindt a fair trade company, please sign the petition below.
