Has there ever been a time when you were on a vacation, your bank account froze and you weren’t able to get any money out to get back home? Has there ever been a time when rent, bills, and payments were due but you couldn’t make it due to your card declining, check returning, or refused any money out of the account and all that was left was nothing? These incidents are at the most always caused by bank levies and liens placed on your bank account. Why? I find no important significant reason for finding justice over debt and thought justice was to be served on death, injury, or hurt to someone or something. Not only are most of us already in debt but placing a bank levy on someone’s account whose already in debt creates nothing but more debt on top of what they’re already trying to pay off. Of course some of us go through our ups and downs such as being laid off, homeless, or even having a hard time finding a job, but none of us deserve this punishment. We are not jailed, sentenced, or even placed on death role, yet our bank accounts are. Once our accounts are placed on a lien, we cannot touch, see, or even use it and when it is released there is nothing left but to start over from scratch. What if that was your savings money, the money that you worked hard for, your children’s tuition for when they go to college, heck, even the money to pay off the person who wants to garnish you. Why should we be forced to pay for something we are not yet ready for? A company, firm, or business cannot take any more than 25% from employment wages so why should they be able to take all from a bank account? So, my pledge is to have the states pass a law saying that it is illegal to garnish someone’s bank account or at the same, a company, firm, or business may only take up to 25% out of one’s bank account for the amount of the balance pertained inside the account. That means if my bank account holds $400, you should only be allowed to take $100 from me.
