I am writing about Alfa's discriminatory pet policies. Your blanket restrictions against Home Owners with certain breeds of dogs that are inaccurately deemed aggressive is displacing hundreds, if not thousands of family pets. It is also leaving your customers grieving for the beloved pets they are forced to either abandon or risk losing their home insurance. Alfa Insurance, by continuing to ban breeds without consideration for the temperaments of individual dogs -- as well as listing these breeds alongside your right-to-refuse individual dogs who display aggressive behavior -- discriminates against responsible families and their dogs. Many other insurance companies have a "First Bite" clause, where dog's are only deemed aggressive after a biting incident. This is certainly a step in the right direction. But a blanket ban on dogs who even RESEMBLE a certain type of breed is wrong. Best Friends Animal Society, The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS), the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), and dozens of other experts across the country oppose such breed-specific policies. A dog is an individual with his own unique personality and should be judged based on temperament, not on appearance or breed. I urge you to end this discrimination and remove the breed restriction in your aggressive/vicious dog policy.
