PETITION TO URGE JOHN KERRY TO REQUEST A RECOUNT IN OHIO, TO DETERMINE THE REAL WINNER OF THE PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION
Whereas, Senator John Kerry and Senator John Edwards, the Democratic candidates for President and Vice President respectively, promised America
during the campaign that they would make sure that "every vote will be counted,"
Whereas, Blackboxvoting.org has, based on hard evidence, documents obtained in public records requests, inside information and other data indicative of manipulation of electronic voting systems, taken the position that fraud took place in the 2004 election through electronic voting machines,
Whereas, evidence of massive voter fraud concerning the paperless electronic voting machines, the vote scanning machines and the vulnerability of central vote tabulators are coming to rapidly,
Whereas, investigative reporter Greg Palast, who broke the story about the tens of thousands of mostly African-American voters disenfranchised when they were erroneously put on a felons list in Florida before the 2000 Presidential election, states that Kerry/Edwards have more than enough legal votes in Ohio to win that state, and therefore the election, if both provisional ballots and so-called "spoiled ballots" (ballots not counted by the voting machines) are hand counted,
Whereas Kerry/Edwards will have until 5 days after the Ohio Secretary of State certifies the election results, which will not happen until provisional ballots are counted 11-15 days after the election, to request a statewide Ohio recount, which, once requested, cannot be denied by the state of Ohio,
Whereas, the Kerry/Edwards campaign has already raised millions of dollars and a team of lawyers to pay for a recount,
Whereas, it should not be the prerogative of the Kerry/Edwards campaign to refuse to have a recount in Ohio - and perhaps other states - after an unprecedented effort by tens of thousands of volunteers around the country
to register new Democratic voters and to get out the vote for Kerry in swing states, when it is possible that George W. Bush is not the legitimate victor of the 2004 election and would therefore have no right to impose his "mandate" on this nation,
Wheras, this new information about voter fraud and disenfranchisement in the 2004 election was not evident when Kerry made his concession--a political, not a legal term--and imbues any request for a recount with strong moral authority,
Therefore we, the signers of this petition, respectfully urge Kerry/Edwards to request a recount in Ohio and possibly other states. We believe that Kerry/Edwards have legitimately won this election. We will not accept Bush as our president when everything has not been done ascertain the true victor of this election. To do anything less is to disenfranchise vast quantities of the electorate who have voted for and volunteered for Kerry/ Edwards, to break the promise that every vote will be counted and to turn our backs on the promise of Democracy.
In addition to signing this petition it is important that you do the action alerts in the right hand column to make sure that all our votes were counted, |
