On January 14 2009, I was admitted to a very important hospital in nassau county, according to the reports the are the best in high risk prenatal care. I was 27 weeks pregnant at the time with my second child a baby boy,he was healthy, normal, moving, thriving, but my blood pressure was high so i had to stay in the hospital until the baby was ready for delivery, all the paper work was done and sign, i spoke to a neonatologist, she explain to me the risk of having a premature baby, because the birth of my son was eminent and i was ready!! 2 days pass my boy was still healthy, but my health was going down hill. everyone knows the cure for pre-aclamsia is immediate delivery but they told me to hold on to the baby for a few more days and so i did. it is now saturday january 17 and the doctor comes to see me. I tell him that i was not feeling well and that i was not urinating like i was when i came into the hospital, my head was pounding and i was seeing spots, the doctor keeps quiet and says "this is my last day here i'll be back on tuesday but my partner is coming tomorrow ans she'll take over my cases" he also said " you know just because you don't see a doctor in the room doesn't mean we are not taking care of you" you're in good hands!! and i was confuse because the care i was getting wasn't the care of a high risk patient, the fetal heart monitor wasn't on me permanently like i had it with my daughter, so the was no way of knowing if my son was on distress. It is now sunday january 18 and my blood presure is twice as high i'm very swollen, my hands and feet hurt just by moving them, the nurses were concern but THERE IS NO DOCTORS so the nurses were calling the doctor on the phone for instructions, the doctor orders to increse my labetalol dosage which is a medication design to dramatically lower blood pressure on the mother therefore the fetus is to be monitor at all time, but the fail to do so.It is now monday january 19, 6 am and i get rudely awaken by an extremely strong pain in my back i call the night nurse whom i only saw 3 times during her shift and tell her i'm in pain!! she comes in with a monitor and she can't find my babi's heart beat,I can see the panic on her face, so she rans out and get a resident and she confirms the obvious the baby is gone!!!i went into renal failure, I was blind and and my blood count was low and the only way to deliver my now desease baby was via cesarian section. After everything was done i had one decision to make. Do i bury or cremate my little angel ? Keep in mind that We enter the hospital in perfect condition and 4 days after while under the care of experts i lost my baby and nearly my life. After I got better, I spoke to a lawyer, he tells me that he believe there was negligence, but because the baby never took a breath i can't claim wrongful death and the doctors are protected and that the only way i would have a case is if i lost my life or need it medical assistance for the rest of my life. I when to another lawyer and ask for a second opinion and told the same. A year has gone by and i still don't have my answers. what kill my baby? and why didn't they deliver me when i asked? Well i"m sick of it! This is an invitation to all mothers that feel cheated out of a happy life with babies, like a was. I think is time our unborn babies get the rights the deserve. Please join my cause this may not bring back our babies, but at least our grandkids and generations to come won't have to go throught this painful process. thank you
