Name: Gary Bishop on Feb 13, 2008Comments: Too many law breakers are getting too much protection these days.... and the victims seem to get punished for it one way or another.... I am of the opinion of if you break the law you deserve what you get... it's the victims who should get the protection and help...Flag

Name: Robert Pollock on Feb 13, 2008Comments: I have already written to the Evening times in Glasgow right after this sentence was announced. The Judge had great discretionary powers based upon all the facts of this tragic case and she had a chance to strike back for the good people in life. She took the safe look after my own job route and the whole country is or should be in uproar. I bet if Mr Armstrong pled not guilty no jury worth their salt would have found him guilty because we are all sick of the neds ruling the roost. Now we have a family of 10 destroyed 8 young kids and 2 parents life in tatters because he choose to stand up to the neds, If anyone game near my house and family with a knife and a baton i would run him over several times until he no longer posed a threat to me or anyone else in the immediate future The law is such a joke and sentencing such a farce that no-one has any faith in it any longer, we will see more people taking the law into their own hands unless the law and the judges get their act together. Today in the paper a ned stabs a man 9 times and faced the same charge as Mr Armstrong and he gets 4 years(4 month more for a deliberate pre-meditated attack on an innocent member of the public, this means he will serve two months more than a man protecting the rights of his and other families to live without fear of attack. This sentence must be reduced to the most lenient possible under the law as it does not reflect the wishes of the people and is not in any way in the interest of the people. This man must be returned to his family with minimal delay... many thanks r pollockFlag

Name: Lucy on Feb 13, 2008Comments: I'd probably have done much the same thing if faced with a knife wielding attacker who'd just smashed in my car window and who was threatening further assault. Mr Armstrong should be freed immediately and applauded for standing up for the safety of himself and his family against a violent thug.Flag

Name: Mary Clark on Feb 13, 2008Comments: Please, for the love of God, three and a half years is too much for a man who was being assaulted! This can only invite other gang members to assault your citizens. Please, Stephen Armstrong is not guilty of anything but self-defense. No jail time for him, please, in the name of truth and justice.Flag
