We the fans of the New Jersey Devils hereby ask John Vanderbeek, owner of the New Jersey Devils, and/or anyone else with that kind of power within the organization to fire or ask current General Manager/President/CEO Lou Lamoriello to step down as the team's general manager or retire. We are disgusted and fed up with the way he has managed this team the past four years. The old news was losing the likes of Scott Niedermayer, Scott Gomez, Brian Rafalski, and Scott Stevens and never replacing them, but his inactivity and amounting losses that occurred on this day (July 1st, 2009) are utterly unacceptable and have drawn the line for us fans. The Devils were a team that had potential to go deeper into the playoffs and possibly be in contention for the stanley cup more than once since 2003, but Lamoriello's seemingly apathetic attitude toewards handling his big free agents and properly replacing lost talent has put the Devils in the state they are now. We feel he is doing more harm than good and we want him out. The Devils have a small fanbase and as outraged as we the fans are now, would be wise to satisfy this demand. It could be possible if things do not change, attendance numbers at games will be declining and this team's revenues and television viewings could significantly as well, which could put the Devils in the position teams like the Predators, Thrashers, and Coyotes are currently or have been put in.
