Name: Dawud M Khuluq on Mar 28, 2011Comments: I have been reading the Star Wars EU novels and comics since I was 14 years old in the early 90s. And while I welcome the Clone Wars animated series and understand the desire of the creator of this franchise to craft whatever story he wishes, I do not wish to see a fictional universe that has influenced me into adulthood rendered null and void because of this. In some ways the EU is more Star Wars than the movies, because I've read far more novels and comics and re-read many of them than I have actually watched the films. We are seeing an unprecedented disregard for the established EU continuity, while simultaneously the stories that kicked it off(Timothy Zahn's Thrawn Trilogy and Tom Veitch and Cam Kennedy's Dark Empire) are being recollected and repackaged for a new generation with the Thrawn Trilogy comic adaptations put into a hardcover omnibus and the Dark Empire trilogy, as well as a 20th anniversary edition of Heir to the Empire with author commentary. We cannot simultaneously celebrate those works, and by extension all the works that have sprung from there, and place their very relevance as a sequel to the 6 Star Wars films in jeopardy.Flag

Name: Trevor D. on Mar 28, 2011Comments: I love The Clone Wars and everything George Lucas produces, but I am ashamed at how disjointed continuity has become. In the past the chronology of Star Wars was a titanic undertaking, including the use of a "Holocron Keeper" to ensure every story had a place. One of my favorite things about Star Wars was the fact that each small story was a part of an amazing narrative that fit together like a puzzle. Please, Mr. Lucas, take this into account when poducing future stories.Flag

The Expanded Universe has become such an integral part of the overall Star Wars experience, and is also responsible for the continuing success and popularity of the Saga. Intentionally overriding established, authorized works does not serve to benefit the fan base, nor Mr. Lucas and his work. Please be more mindful of "the living Force."Flag

Name: Scott Johnson on Mar 28, 2011Comments: I whole heartily agree with the sentiments of this petition. Most recently the death of Jedi Master Even Piell in the Clone Wars could lead to the possible removal from canon of the entire Coruscant Nights trilogy. This could have been avoided by simply using a different Jedi whose fate has been left undetermined. I feel that not enough due diligence has gone into the choosing of some of the more recently featured characters, planets and groups seen in the Clone Wars animated TV series. Following the Bantam era of novels it seems to me that real work went into carefully tying the continuity together and I feel that recently that work has begun to unravel.Flag

Name: Mark S. Hurliman on Mar 28, 2011Comments: I love Star Wars! I dislike the division that this "issue" seems to draw out of many of us fans. Plus we have the false impression that SW + SWEU above most other series (Trek, Halo, other books) is one big story, always has been, and that they all fit together. It's not, nor has not been, for as long as I can recall. Splinters of the Minds Eye came out Feb 12, 1978- one year after A New Hope. One year younger then SW is the SWEU but it's never been treated to the same continuity respect as the rest of SW. And IDK if this will ever be resolved beyond groups of fans leaving the Fandom sick of the same old same old. As a fan for 10+ years I'd rather continue to enjoy SW no matter how like the Trek books it will get. (and YES it IS getting that bad. Slowly.) So I add my name to the petition just as a "what if" (I know this won't work- but What if there IS more fans out there then most EU haters give credit- I'd love nothing more then to learn that 4,500+ signatures sprang up in a week. I'd love to see that those who would rather EVERYTHING STAR WARS, ALL FIT TOGETHER vs just some SWEU will fit with George's SW. I see no way of this petition working- barring a second universe with it's own Per George Continuity. The issue has always hang around George- if you can't make him read the books and comics you'll never get him to respect them enough to consider thinking a little longer on how to tell his great stories without causing continuity issues with the other materials. I just don't see him making any concessions. And no one can make him. Lets face it- barring a lot of signature- the EU will continue as it's ALWAYS HAS. With retcons trying to fix the cracks in the great ever-growing body of literature of SW created by human error or the Maker's choices. But even all this doesn't change that deep down despite it all: I love Star Wars!Flag
