Comments: New price hike should apply to new sign-ups only, and NOT to consumers with existing contracts. we have no choice but to take the price hike until the contracts ends. we cant terminate without suffering penaltys

Comments: When I spoke to Ernest Luis of TNP last year I told him I cancelled my subscription for SCV as they stopped showing Serie A football. Earlier this year I signed up again, although there is occasional showing of Serie A matches, it was quite disappointing the games they chose to show. Firstly, I am gobsmacked they decided to increase basic group(around $26 a month I think) by $4 and another $10 for sports group($15 a month currently). Factor in GST etc, each month I would have to fork out $55-$60 a month they watch the only thing I want to watch - football. And I don't subscribe Channel 55, or star movies. Just $55-$60 for BASIC + sports. It is ridiculous. Secondly, the new package looks great additional stuff, Dutch league and Scottish league....sounds exciting if you happen to be Dutch or Scottish fan, and of course die hard fan of English football. Give me Spanish La Liga, Italian Serie A and German Bundesliga, it's more exciting but they are not showing much of the latter two. The Germans have the highest goal ratio in Europe. Serie A have stars like Kaka, Ronaldo, Totti, Ibrahimovic etc which is a shame they are not showing. Thirdly, they are forcing us to take 'packages' instead of customised products(ala carte). If I have to pay $45-$50 a month with no basic group, pure sports channel, I will be willing to fork out the money but give me choice of which ever I want to subscribe. But I am displeased that I have to take something which I do not need. It's like to buy a Football DVD I have to buy National Geographic DVD so that I get to buy the Football DVD. Yes they show alot of sports, snooker, tennis, golf.....yawn ..... they should let people choose what they want to see. Lastly, so many matches, but seriously how many fans got time to watch them all Most of us working adults are cannot afford to watch late games which Champions League and the best Spanish games are usually shown late. I will cancel my subscription soon so will many of my friends and colleagues who expressed their displeasure, it is simply exploitation of the monopoly they enjoy or lord over us.

Comments: Isn't Singapore a free market that should have anti-monopoly laws in place Such monopolistic move should never be allowed to occur. Such news has saddened me as a Singaporean. (And why ask us why more and more citizens are leaving the country)

Comments: To Singaporeans: "U hav the power to pressure starhub into dropping price hike for existing customer!" Stop paying starhub !!!!! if starhub want to terminate let them terminate for as long as they want. i hav alternative to use M1 mobile internet. they called me to pay up & i told they to drop price hike for existing customer be4 i pay. Stand ur stand, all consumers united, starhub need to learn this lesson.

Comments: The whole thing is just ridiculous! I just sign up a 2 years contract with them in April and they have this kind of price hike.Calling customer service is useless and they told me the revised plan is based on their customer survey.I feel like a retard talking to the CS named Michelle from Tampines branch. I do hope some one from the stat board will speak out for us. PLEASE, let Singapore be a good and fair place to stay.

Comments: I feel strongly oppressed by the vendor's action to unilatreally raise prices for an existing contract ! This is totally unfair and should not be allowed and cannot be condoned. Does this also mean that the landlord can raise rental in the midst of a running contract ? How can a contract still remain a sacred document to protect the rights of each party ?

Comments: I am not sure about the rest of you however I feel there are two points that needs to be made here. 1. Starhub are free to price their services however they see fit. 2. If you are under contract the only way they can make you pay a hike is by you actually paying it. If you have signed a contract prior to the hike then call in to Starhub and say that you will take them to court for breach of contract, they will refund your $2 straight away. Singapore contractual law does not permit one party to unilaterally raise the fee unless they have the other party's approval. Should they persist they will be voiding the contract on their own. i.e, call starhub and say that you will not pay the hike for the duration of your contract, if they persist tell them that they have voided the contract under the law and that you terminate the service immediately with no penalties. Theoretically if that happens you could sue for damages but that would be far fetched...

Comments: I just noticed since January 2011 our bill in Starhub it's increasing, i'm complaining to my housemate why our bill is always increasing we didn't change our subscription rate. How many times do they raise the rate every 2nd month? or 3rd month? this is not fair.

Comments: , it aprpaes clear that we can accomplish that objective for a lot less than we?re currently spending ? for example, do we really need 40,000 troops in Germany defending them from Russian aggression right now? A real solution would look something like the termination of programs that the military THEMSELVES have stated they don?t want, a freeze on the maximum amount of defense spending at the current level minus those programs (which is overly high thanks to the wars) and a planned build down over the next X years (6? 10?) to a sustainable level. The build down would be to a level that maintains the best military in the world and provides sufficient expenditures to keep developing new technology to make our troops safer and our military more effective, balanced against our national priorities. Please note that both of these examples still have variables, and both are a general framework for a bi-partisan compromise that can be implemented in reality and would be sustainable. And neither one can be accomplished unless our politicians are willing to put the needs and welfare of the country as a whole ahead of their personal ideology. If they cannot do that, conservatives will never agree to tax hikes and defense cuts, and liberals will never agree to tax breaks and high defense spending, and we?ll stay mired in hyperpartisan demagoguery where the only thing that matters is how big a blame-thrower you can wield and where success is measured by how many opponents you harm, rather than how many citizens you help.I hope that gives you something to consider. Thanks

Comments: Dear Commenters: Sometimes it takes me a few hours or even a day to get to cnmmeots. Sometimes I don't post them at all. Most of the time I do. In any event, rest assured I read all cnmmeots. There is no need to post your comment multiple times, nor include smarmy little aphorisms. re: March placement data the published data (which represents all of the data I myself have seen) is not detailed enough to draw any kind of conclusion about how much need there is in the Inner Sunset for an additional elementary school. I believe we will get additional data points on the March 18 round at the student assignment committee meeting on May 9 but it may be June before I see that kind of detailed analysis. I based my earlier statement on the lack of need for an elementary school in the Inner Sunset on our the projections from our demographers the board reviewed last year when formulating the new student assignment policy.
