Name: Marianne Irwin on Feb 28, 2013Comments: The planning in Cambridge is beginning to have a severely detrimental affect on the character and infrastructure of the City and I fully support the above petition - there is an overdevelopment of the City, particularly with high rise buildings that are often totally out of character with their surroundings and add to the traffic circulation problem and endanger the safety of cyclists.Flag

Name: Angela Jameson Potts on Feb 28, 2013Comments: I am not at all opposed to the redevelopment of this area; it is much needed. But it could be something really attractive to both wandering tourists and locals alike. With its proximity to the riverside, the Folk Museum and Kettle Yard, this particular part of Chesterton could be so much more attractive if it were developed as a place for small independent businesses, and a few residential flats above. It could have a leafy courtyard in the middle, or a rooftop cafe to take advantage of the location, rather that yet more, tightly packed and stacked student flats. The height of the proposals is just too domineering and does not deliver anything to the people who already inhabit this area, other than more traffic, more overshadowing and less daylight.Flag

Name: Jenny Seabrook on Feb 28, 2013Comments: I agree with many others who say that whilst this area is in need of development, it surely deserves something better than this. The current proposal is too high, will be an eyesore and lead to overcrowding in an already busy area. We need more green space, public & children's amenities fitting to this part do Central Cambridge.Flag

Name: Mary MacGinley on Feb 28, 2013Comments: I think that that the current proposal is not architecturally attractive, not suited for 16-18 year olds living on a roundabout, and adds nothing of value to the diverse community around Mitchems Corner. More though is needed to come up with a worthwhile proposal for this near city centre site.Flag

Name: Rowena Whitehead on Mar 1, 2013Comments: The proposed buildings look ugly and dominating and I am very concerned about the idea of 700 young people who use bikes living on this traffic island. I cycle round Mitchams corner every day and it does not feel safe. Surel;y this is a chance to reconsider how the traffic flows and to consider how the area can be improved aesthetically - let's have a Mitchams Green!Flag
