"We, the undersigned, stand in full support of the establishment of the St. Anne Center for Women's Health, and the efforts of Dr Anthony Caruso and his partners to create it. The heartbreak and emotional roller coaster of infertility affects a significant percentage of couples, yet in the city of Chicago, the third-largest in the nation and one that is home to top-notch hospitals and advanced medical research, the options available to infertile couples are startlingly limited, and, for faithful Catholic couples, largely unacceptable. There is not a single fertility practice that supports the Ethical Directives for Catholic Health Care by offering treatments for infertility that are in line with the teachings of the Catholic Church, despite the excellent advances in the understanding and treatment of infertility by organizations such as the Pope Paul VI Institute. Chicago couples seeking fertility care that respects the dignity and welfare of wife, husband, and baby, that does not violate the marital union, and that aims to heal rather than hijack the reproductive system, have nowhere to turn.It is for this reason that we believe that Chicago greatly needs the St. Anne Center for Women's Health.
