Green Washing is the attempts of corporations to market their products as green through loop-holes and false representation. A single trip to the grocery store makes this very apparent. Green Washing is bastardization of what could be a beautiful cultural shift into a more sustainable mindset, by manipulating the genuine intentions of the masses for capital gain. While many organizations have been taking a stand against green washing tactics and Government standards continue to be put in place, but the issue still prevails as competition between corporations for the consumers dollar persists and distrust between the consumers and producers grows. What needs to be done is to clarify the mass public confusion of standards of sustainability and eco-friendliness. In our society it seems that needs to be enforced through regulations and standardizations, but none have yet resolved this issue. In order for a sustainable mindset to prevail, and a healthy balance between nature and culture to be achieved, an every growing global society must dedicate itself to its holistic future. The solution needs to one based on both standardized testing of products as well as standardized graphics. This petition not only calls for signatures, but calls for designers to submit their ideas as well as environmental enthusiasts to assist in the formation of these standards.
