Name: Rev. Joe Diaz on Jun 21, 2011US State: VermontComments: I am a senior citizen and it makes me sick the way our elders are being treated in public and in nursing homes where they should of all places be protected. Let us not forget that we all will get old and need the care of the next generation. As they say, "What goes around comes around." The Bible says that we reap what we sow.Flag

Name: Clara Scarberry on Jun 21, 2011US State: OhioComments: My daughter was placed in a nursing home by her daughter. She placed a block on my getting any information as to her care or condition. My daughter died and I was not given any information as to where her body was taken or what happened to her. All I heard was her daughter had her cremated. No memorial, no funeral and I was not given the chance to say goodbye. That was in Dec. and to this day I do not know where my daughter is.My daughter was finally stricken with Alzheimers and lost all memory of family and things known before.. I have no use for my granddaughter who did this cruel thing to me.. I grieve to this day. I am 83 yrs old and scared someday I will be put in a nursing home.Flag

Mickey Rooney's, in particular, broke my heart; I have loved his movies since I was a little girl. In my line of work, I am constantly plagued by these stories and my prayer is to hear them completely diminish. I, completely, support your work. Keep it up! :)Flag

Name: Anonymous on Jul 30, 2011US State: GeorgiaComments: System is broken! Fix the problems for the elderly! Advocates and effective programs needed to protect the elderly, not just repetitive ineffective programs that do not address the issues in a wholly beneficial manner. The elderly have been abused by the complex financial, technological "creative" vehicles created over the past decade and lack of legal and financial protections and advocates to protect them from abuses. The housing crisis through no fault of majority of people has caused a decrease of net worth never experienced by most and the elderly have been laid bare as the most vulnerable with a lifetime of investments they expected to support them through their last years now in some cases completely vaporized. the cost of legal and financial representation not within their reach causing even more predatory behavior from the system.resources or understanding of how to protect and defend their rights. Outrageous!Flag

It is in Probate but very hard to stop the hemorrhage as mother recently died. They had POA Mom. Money house and shut everyone else out to hide their Stealing. It needs to be easier to stop the abuse once suspected.Flag

Name: Linda Niman on Aug 23, 2011US State: CaliforniaComments: My in-laws were lied to, threatened, isolated, and terrified all for the purpose of forcing them to change their will leaving everything to the brother-in-law. The courts absoultely did not care. I f the dicuments are signed, it doesn't matter if these elders were abused in to forcing their signatures. What kind of message is our court system sending?Flag
