Diane Adomian | There must be an end to squeezing teachers. Until gratitude meets their service and contributions, how can we expect them to hold together a broken and neglected system to give our children all they need and deserve?

Lora Gilmore | This is an unfair offset. It's not like teaches, fireman, etc. are raking in the money. After years of service to our community we would like what we have earned. Coming into teaching in my middle 40's is now a burden to my retirement. I've lost 3/4 of my social security from working age 18 - 42 in private sector.
Jerry Brunkala | Congress should act immediately to rescind the Social Security offset and windfall penalties. Governor Schwartzenegger's recent proposal to draft retired tech workers into the teaching field will be seriously hindered if these two laws are allowed to stand.
JaneAnne Jeffries Johnson | I am a teacher who is also a widow. I want to be able to continue to collect my husband's social security after I retire. I worked and paid into social security for 10 years before I began teaching. Those were 10 years I did not pay into my teaching retirement. I cannot afford to retire from teaching unless I can continue to keep either my husband's social security or what would be due me.

Thomas E. Campbell | As one who entered the teaching profession mid-life after more than thirty years contributing to Social Security, I feel particularly strongly that the offsets are unfair. Other professionals and retirees who are thinking of switching to a teaching career will most likely not be as altruistic (naive?) as I have been.

Anonymous | It is not as if i have made millions of dollars in teaching and i'm a single household. I worked several other jobs before teaaching in California. I paid into social security. Every little bit will help me in retirement. the rule should be changed.
Marissa Berridge | We as teachers have worked hard in the private sector and have diligently put our wages into Social Security. It is an injustice to all teachers to remove our hard-earned social security benefit. In fact, if you do decide to commit this injustice, then I demand all of the money that was taken out of my paycheck before I became a teacher paid back to me IMMEDIATELY!
James Riley | Level the playing field! Eliminate unfair Social Security offset and windfall penalties for those who are responsible for educating our children!
Edwin McCready | All teachers deserve the social security they have paid into the system. Why are teachers treated different from Corporation chiefs who have enormous pensions yet collect their social security as well? This must be changed. It is discriminatory and penalizes our most important profession!
D Meyer | Please end the unfair offsets.
