| 6551 | Welda Johnson | People who earn enough social security credits to qualify for benefits should receive the fruits of their labor! |

| 6557 | john r gann | I find it hard to believe that wages, that were earned and paid into Social Security, can be stolen by the Federal Govt. with no regard for the retirement needs of the individual who worked so hard to earn a living and comply with Federal law. In my case I worked for 18 years in the private sector. I decided at age 40 that I desired to teach children the importance of a sound body and the relationship to intelligence and success. The govt. is constantly asking for more good teachers! Is this a program that will convince quality people to make career changes? We should be allowed to receive benefits (that were earned and paid for) or the program should refund all of the money that I paid into Social Security as a private sector employee. |

| 6571 | Vicki Hugebeck | I earned all my S.S. quarters before I became a teacher. I probably won't get full benefits from STRS because I'll be too old when I retire. I should be able to count on the S.S. money that I earned. |
| 6572 | Anonymous | I do not understand how I could have paid into the social security system for 16 years and then I can not collect the monies I put in. I still earned that money. What happens when I am too old to work until I am eligible for my full teacher's retirement? |
| 6573 | Adelia G. Medel | I have worked in a Private school and an office before I worked with the SFUSD. During summer, I also teach in a Private school. All of these establishments took off Social Security form our earnings. All of these hard earned money will go to nothing when I retire. I think I deserve to enjoy the money set aside for me by the Social Security System when I retire. |

| 6575 | fereidon geula | I just don't understand how anybody can do this. this is my money and I have worked hard to accumulate something for my retirement. Now I have to say goobye to retirement. |
| 6576 | Ruth Britton | My present Social Security benefits will be reduced to $400 per month when I take a small teacher's pension. This is an unfair law and should be repealed! |
| 6577 | Karen Francois | I have been a teacher for 13 years. Prior to changing careers, I was a retail buyer. When I entered my teaching credential program, I did not know my social security benefits would be compromised when I became a teacher. I now have to work for many more years as a teacher than I had planned due to the social security benefits I will not be able to collect. |

| 6582 | Anonymous | I am a paraprofessional. I am 61 years old. I will get some SS when and if I can retire. To lose any of that for getting a few dollars from our lousy "pension" plan called pars, would be very bad.
As it is I cannot afford to retire on 600.00 from SS and maybe 50. or $100 from pars. I will have to work till I die or untill I can work no longer.
Please help us with this.
thanks,

| 6583 | Anonymous | An unfair law, one which has no rationale and does harm. |
| 6584 | Thad Makowski | Please include firemen, police officers, and municipal employees, including ex-mayors like Sarah Palin that are treated like second class citizens because of the "Windfall". |

| 6592 | Lucetta Swift | I returned to public school teaching after many years of employment covered by social security. I would never have taken this step if I had known that I would lose social security benefits. My total monthly retirement income is now only $1200 ($635 from STRS and $558 from SS), so at 68 years of age, I must continue to work. Ironically, I must continue to pay into Social Security and Medicare. The law is unfair and discriminating, especially since it does not apply to all states. Please change this law. |
| 6593 | Nancy Marie Halloran | I worked for twenty years in the Catholic school system before joining public schools. I understand much of my Social Security will be taken away because I am now under the public school pension system. This is not fair. Other public empoyees keep their pensions. For example someone can get Social Security, a Navy pension and a Navy department pension. I know someone who is getting all three. I put in a lot of hard work for my Social Security pension. I hope you will vote to save it.
Sincerely,
Nancy Halloran |
