Sharon MahanyThese Social Security benefits have been earned. It would be unfair to wipe the slate clean because a partial income from another source may come into play. Retirement is tough. Many people have planned their future resources based on these expectations.
Rebecca ShirleyI ask that our representatives support those of us who came into teaching later in our working careers. We should not be penalized for changing careers, especially when one of them involves education. Please support those of us who have chosen to make a difference.

AnonymousYoung people often do not realize that, if they stay at home to care for their families and do not dedicate themselves to teaching, they can get a substantial portion of their spouses' Social Security Retirement Benefits. However, if they teach, they may not get a penny in Social Security Retirement benefits!
AnonymousYoung people may not realize that, if they stay at home to raise a family, they will qualify to receive a substantial amount of Social Security Retirement benefits, based upon their spouses' SS Retirement benefits. However, if they devote their lives to teaching in certain states, they might get absolutely no retirement benefits!

Joel WolkThis is a way to divide the American population into groups like the Nazi's did in the 1930's. Those that were pure, those that had one parent who was a Jew could only consort with a German (that would help to wipe out the Jewish genes) those that had two grandparents who were Jewish could only consort with a Jew, etc.. This is a metaphor for divide and conquer. Since most poor Latinos and African American attend public schools schools are being targeted by the powers that be. History repeats iteself in a coded way.
Ruby BehrmanI am a widow who thinks the present Social Security Laws for Widows is unfair. We are penalized for being in between. No kids at home and not 60.
john lauritaI have paid into SS for over 20 years and the offset and the windfall penalties are grossly unfair to me. Because I have paid into, contracted for and earned a retirement from employment with the state of Calif. is no reason to reduce my earned SS benefit when I need it in my older years. I have heard from Senators Feinstein and Boxer who both have pledged to support S 206.

AnonymousNo matter what negative comments ANYONE had to say about the government, he would defend it, saying, "We live in the best place in the world." He was cmpleteley devastated, and feeling betrayed by this government he so fervently defended, as he died of lung cancer, with the new knowledge that my mother, a school teacher, would not be able to collect A SINGLE PENNY of the $100,000+ he was REQUIRED to pay into Social Security over his lifetime. To collect this money is considered, "Double Dipping," by our US Government. (My daddy paid quite a sum of money into Social Security over the years. When we were young, he and my mother had very little - in fact, he went without a front tooth for 6 months once because he could not afford dental care while providing for his family. AND YET - neither he NOR MY LIVING MOTHER, or sisters and I, are eligible to receive a dime of this money back. God forbid we DOUBLE DIP!! I'll give ONE GUESS AS TO WHO IS GETTING TO DO ALL THE DOUBLE DIPPING!?

Sally Ann GilliamI support teacher's receiving the Social Security payments that are accorded to ordinary citizens. Why are we being treated differently as a group than other Americans.
Thomas Workman
Roberta Grovespeople work their entire life and pay into Soc. Security why is it so hard for the government to give back what is rightfully ours to begin with?

Charles ManiaciI have paid my dues to Social Security and I feel that I'm entitled to the benefit that is currently denied me. It is unfair to penalize me for working in the school system.
Susanna EliasI am a retired special ed. teacher. My husband deceased.I am not able to receive full retirement .His Social Security benefits would help me a great deal to maintain my life.
AnonymousSupport for my sister-in-law, who is a retired teacher - do the right thing and let her receive the social security her deceased husband worked for.

Paula GoldbergThe Windfall and Offset penalize those of us who worked under the Social Security system and came late to public education. We are stripped of the time element to amass many years of public school service for a better pension, yet our previous work service is thrown away. This is not fair.
