Name: Annie Gaudette on May 8, 2012Comments: Our goverment should really stop focusing on whatever can bring them money and maybe start focusing a bit more on how all these rigamarow ideas affect our environment. They are on a streak of destroying all natural habitats that are left for their financial satisfaction. We don't need a gondola to go up the Stawamus Chief. If you want to go up, hike, it's that easy.City and Province: Whistler, BCFlag

Name: Andy Turner on May 8, 2012Comments: development on lands adjacent to our provincial parks is increasing at an alarming rate. locally, the culliton and skookum creek power projects will exacerbate access and park use issues in garibaldi park. on the east side of garibaldi, power projects on tuwasus, kakila, billygoat and snowcap creeks will cause the same land management issues. during times like these, should we really be TAKING land out of our parks for private development? If you want to ride a gondola to check out the views in the corridor please visit grouse or w/b and have your fill. please respect the vision and process of parks planning by not removing park land that has been set aside through legitimate public consultation. really? 300K visitors a year riding the gondola? where does this number come from? will these people actually spend more time/money in town if they ride the gondola? just my thoughts, but i see a gondola rider as someone who rides the gondola, stops at timmys/mickydees/burger king and continues on northbound. no different than most other visitors to town. 30-50 full-time staff? for a gondola? ever rode the gondola in moab? me neither because it is just is hulking, rusting blight of a mess that nobody cleaned up. maybe we could build a monorail from downtown squamish to the gondola.City and Province: squamish, bcFlag

Name: Kirsten Lyle on May 8, 2012Comments: Our Provincial Parks are under a great deal of pressure from numerous development applications. We are facing a substantial amount of development proposals in BC with our bounty of natural resources. My concern is that is that if we change a park boundary for this Gondola, it sets a dangerous precedent for future Park boundary amendments. There is no doubt that Squamish could benefit from new objectives to increase tourism, but let's promote initiatives that do not conflict with protected areas and will foster the entire community rather that just a stop along the highway.City and Province: Sqaumish, BCFlag

Name: Geoff on May 9, 2012Comments: I would like to see no changes to the BC parks act at this time. My reasons for that is because the Liberal government made some serious changes to BC parks about 12 years ago in the way of staff cutbacks and funding. Our parks have never been the same in many ways including the big one PROTECTION! We must take care and put more land into our parks before we can trust the current government any further.City and Province: Whistler BCFlag

Name: Derek And Jean Wilkinson on May 9, 2012Comments: As former long-term residents of Squamish, we celebrated when the Stawamus Chief Park was declared. Now the integrity of this special park is threatened. We are strongly opposed to all forms of commercialization in BC provincial parks, and this proposed gondola on the Chief in particular. The public, who are the rightful owners of the parks, must have a say, and we must be mindful of our duty to protect the natural beauty and wildness of our protected areas for future generations.City and Province: Salt Spring Island, BCFlag
