Bobby KempYes, I totally agree We lost a v. important pub in Manchester some yrs. ago - these places are 'of the public' - which is why they're called PUBLIC HOUSES Good luck chief Bobby x
c healyWhat will be next. Residents were aware of pub, does this mean more closure for more pubs. This pub is a part of Irish Heritage. Can the Irish Centre not get involved
jon
Bernard ThompsonAbacus idiots
F. VisserRidiculous. Residents should have figured out if the place was suitable before they moved there.
Darren Campbell
Kieren Hennessy
Carmel RoperIt's always been a wonderful meeting place for the Irish as has the whole of Digbeth. The council have once again their promise to the Irish people of birmingham just so they can fill their target for housing. Long live the spotted dog and long live an Irish Digbeth !!!
Kevin RapleyKeep Digbeth vibrant, it is an inner city location with a wealth of music scene venues and just because new developments have sprouted up it doesn't mean that the spirit of the district should be ripped out.
Lee McDonaldYou have a choice when you move into an area. The wrong choice is moving into the city centre if you want peace and tranquility. Move out dont destroy the business The Spotted Dog has been there years. You aint. See your contract through then move to the country. x

AnonymousFantastic pub. Last year I spent back in Brum after living in Oz for many years. I now back in Sydney but get misty eyed when I think of all the great nights out in Digbeth. The usual run was Spotted Dog, The White Swan, Anchor and The Lamp. Pure Genius!
Anonymous the 2ndDear Anonymous 1616. What a coincidence cos that's my usual run to and still is you shallow defector! Yet another fine example of BCC's hypocrisy. They sell the Irish1/4 when it suits and then cut out it's living soul on the other. The biggest worry is that they never seem to learn from their mistakes until it's to late. Absolute Donuts the lot of em!
sharon franceDigbeth is a fantastic old part of bham that deserves to be able to keep up its long held traditions of supporting live music and their venues. The Spotted Dog is one such place that has come under attack by people coming to live in an area that others have long enjoyed drinking and having a great time in but who dont seem to want to become a part of .These 'new types' should do one of two things, shut up and enjoy your surroundings and what it can bring you, or, move away to the sticks and enjoy the silence.I prefer those in question to do the latter!!!!
Michael patrick CallaghanThe Spotted Dog is a great venue and a superb well run traditional pub. People who have moved into the area should not be able to dictate changes and ruin the atmosphere of the area. It is like moving to live in a forest then complaining about the trees. The Council should be able to throw these complaints out.
richthe whole reason i have moved to digbeth recently is because of good boozers like the spotted dog. Was in there last night having a few cheeky guiness', and had a fantastic time. just sat at the bar talking rubbish with my mate. Dont let these fools in the abacus stop the fun....I'm down the road in the new Brolly works development which is better anyway! haha!

Paul DonohoeThe Spotted Dog is a boost to Digbeth and a thriving example of local culture.

Helena DuignanMore than happy to support this petition. You don't regenerate an area by destroying what's already there. Keep fighting. One day they'll listen. Helena
Colette DuignanI have been a Customer of this pub since the eighties We do not want it closed
Kevin DuignanI have been drinking in the pubs around digbeth for 25 years. Great traditions are not easy to come by and the venues such as the Spotted Dog can never be replaced.
Colette DuignanI have been a Customer of this pub since the eighties We do not want it closed
Ian BrittonOne of the few 'pubs' left in or about the city centre. Birmingham is cloned enough - do we want more?
Ciara BrittonA pub with a beer garden that lets kids in - (as a kid) what I need
Nuala BrittonA pub where I can play safely in the garden
Karl RandayAn astounding pub, full of character and charm. A vital venue that should not be allowed to be washed away among the generic, faceless wine bars and pub chains of this growingly anonymous city. I have had the pleasure of using the Spotted Dog for a photoshoot that has become a signature piece of work in my collection. This incredible place cannot be shut down.
Anonymousif people want peace and tranquility then go and live in some rural shropshire village, not the centre of englands second city!
Martin PittJohn, I have been to many great nights and afternoons at your pub over the years, whether it be for family occasions or just a quiet pint. Why do these people move into a city centre if they don't like a bit of noise? Tell them to join the party or move to the suburbs.
James HanleyWas going to the Spotted Dog upto 25 years ago, and don't see why it should change it's policy of loud, live msusic just because some new flats have been built over the past couple of years. Did the people who bought these flats not look at the area they were buying into, and check it out at the weekends.....no-one to blame but themselves.
AnonymousKeep the IRISH PUB with memories of Irish men and women who drank there for years long past it's thhier spirit that lives on today
Ian WinklesI have just moved into this area to be walking distance to places like the Spotted Dog. I wish I'd discovered it sooner!

nicki sunnFantastic pub run by a wonderful family.Keep the music alive life's too short let the good times roll!
Paolo Riozzi
christina Carlin
Anthony CulverwellI am disturbed by the way in which the situation has arisen, the odd "noise levels are subjective", "we don't need to measure nose levels to verify anything" approach taken by the EPH, which has been suggested by one person as being the case.
james
Dr Paul EvansThis is a superb pub. Birmingham emphatically does not need any more plastic bars, and has already lost too many good pubs. Besides, this was here, playing live music, BEFORE the Abacus residents moved in.
Benedict FisherA perfect counterweight to the souless Broad Street end of town, The Spotted Dog is an excellent pub, that serves a vital purpose for Digbeth residents and those coming in from beyond: a friendly atmosphere; a place where you recognise faces; away from the hullabaloo of the city, but with a rich array of live entertainment to keep the place vibrant. The council need to be building upon the success of such venues, rather than silencing them. All the best, Ben
Tracey HurstThis noise abatement order has completely shocked me as the fact that the Abacus apartments were built next to The Spotted Dog should mean that purchasers in the area with any sense would realise and take into account that there will be a level of noise from any type of business such as a pub, a row of shops, an off licence etc.. so the new residents that are complaining obviously have not done thier research into the area. Digbeth has always been a vibrant place to go for all age groups and has been enjoyed by so many over the years, with The Spotted Dog being at the heart of it all,it is a shame that there always seems to be the odd few people who put thier selfish needs before others and feel they are entitled to do so. If the council have any sense they will do the right thing and ensure that Digbeth keeps its fantastic heart and soul for many to enjoy for generations to come and that it doesn't become another dull and dreary "back street "in Brum like so many other areas!
Adam Yates--Fuck em , Turn it up louder !!!!!
max gittings
Paul WoolleyGrow up! Life is to be lived you residents of Abacus,Appreciate the culture, why did you buy these swanky places if you want peace & quiet? They're in the city centre, If its silence your after move to the Clent Hills. You live in the Irish Quarter- soak it up!! Play on John!!!
