Grove Park Library represents the integral hub of the Grove Park Community. Providing full interactive facilities for adults and children and a wide selection of books, this library needs your support to ensure it withstands the pressure the government is applying for its closure.  This library has been highlighted along with four other libraries within the borough of Lewisham.

With a wonderful, fully equipped children's park at the rear,  Grove Park is able to host its Annual Summer Fete, which is attended by locals and littered with entertainment for children and families from magicians to mounted police officers.

Losing a library as critically located as Grove Park would be incredibly disparaging to the community that relies on the easy access to information, friendly and helpful staff, dedicated systems used for research and various administrational duties.  In addition, free internet access makes this a winning combination.  Not only is the library a necessary facility, it is a place of commune for the young and elderly. A place of education, where workshops (including drama workshops held by SWP) take place, where book clubs are joined and opinions are shared. By removing this necessary establishment, the community will suffer a tremendous loss resulting in an inconvenient journey in the other direction towards Downham or even as far as Catford just to return a book! Job losses are another inevitable truth that you can assist in avoiding by taking action against the closure of Grove Park Library.  We need to appeal to the local council and those in positions of authority to reconsider this action. 

The long term benefits that the library circuits provide as a whole must be put at the forefront of such a decision as opposed to the short term financial difficulty they are believed to pose.  

A community without a library is a much poorer community indeed!  Please sign this petition to keep Grove Park enriched!
