Spokane in '08 - Great for the WSDCC

The petition

WSDCC Convention in Spokane, WA. June 13-15, 2008

WHEREAS, Spokane is the second largest City in the State of Washington, the biggest City between Seattle and Minneapolis, and it remains clean, non-congested with a walk able, campus-like, and downtown.

WHEREAS, Spokane is the heart of the Inland Northwest, serving as a shopping, entertainment, and medical hub for an area that includes Eastern Washington, Eastern Oregon, North Idaho, Western Montana, and southern portions of Alberta and British Columbia.

WHEREAS, We are “Near nature. Near perfect.” with mountain biking, white-water rafting, camping, hiking, numerous lakes, and the Centennial Trail all in our backyard.

WHEREAS, The Spokane Convention Center campus sits along the banks of the Spokane River, affording users beautiful views of Spokane and Eastern Washington and the campus includes a Performing Arts Center, an on-site hotel, the Spokane Convention Center, with a new Exhibit Hall able to accommodate thousands of people.

WHEREAS, Spokane provides a high level of service in planning & executing meetings (Meeting News, 2003)

WHEREAS, The Spokane Convention Center campus is immediately adjacent to the 100-acre Riverfront Park, featuring the most beautiful urban river in the world.

WHEREAS The SpokaneHotZone, the nation’s largest municipal (wi-fi) network, provides public Internet access around the clock (2 hours free per day per person) capable of supplying needed support for a Democratic Blogosphere.

WHEREAS, A Spokane convention will result in significant press and media attention in an area where it will do the party and our candidates the most possible good, advancing DNC and WSDCC goals more than any gathering of Democrats in an already solidly democratic area.

WHEREAS, Spokane and Eastern Washington continue to be very affordable destination.

WHEREAS, the WSDCC was last in Spokane in 2002 (6 years in 2008)

WHEREAS, Eastern Washington Democrats invite our Democratic colleagues to convention in the
City of Spokane in the year 2008.

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Washington State Democratic Party (WSDCC) hosts the 2008 Washington State Democratic Party State Convention in Spokane, June 13-15, 2008.
