Split Midterm Schedule

Petition to Split the High School Midterm Exam Schedule Background: • The High School Midterm Exam schedule for 2011 is currently 4 consecutive days: Tuesday, January 18 through Friday, January 21. • Two years ago the Midterm Exams were offered on Wednesday and Thursday before the long Martin Luther King (MLK) weekend and on Tuesday and Wednesday after the long MLK weekend. • The SAT Exam is offered to juniors January 22, the Saturday immediately following the current exam period. We, the undersigned, believe it is in the best interest of the students to divide midterm exams around the MLK weekend. To do so will alleviate unnecessary stress and help student performance. We ask that the Board of Education, the Administration, and the High School Headmasters reexamine the calendar and change the dates of the Midterm Exams to Wednesday and Thursday before the long weekend and Tuesday and Wednesday after the long weekend.
