Spillers has been their for so long and great grand parents can even tell you about when they bought a record at spillers. It part of cardiff and if they get rid of it. They get rid of cardiff too.Flag

Name: Simon Davies on May 19, 2010Comments: Spillers is legendary and important historically. Considering how much effort goes into safeguarding properties of historical value these days it seems a little mad not to do something about this (why aren't they listed?), all for the sake of someone's bottom line? What would replace it, a Starbucks?Flag

Name: Craig Mordecai on May 21, 2010Comments: I truly hope that Spillers is not shut down, it is not just one of Cardiffs but the countrys and the worlds greatest institutions and will always be the "oldest" record shop in the world. I am proud to say that my occasional saturday job there in the early '80's with Nick, Sue, Jane, Chris and i am sure, a couple of others still lives happily in my mind, and i am proud to have been a very very small part of it. Good Luck Nick.Flag

Name: Mark Butler on May 23, 2010Comments: Spillers is so important for many reasons. For me it stands for all the independent record stores that we have lost. Further as an "outsider" one of the pleasures of shopping in Cardiff is the small shops. Now we have St Davids 2, which once inside you could be in ANY of the new malls across the world, it highlights the need for shops like Spillers to be saved.Flag

Name: Reece M Jones on May 25, 2010Comments: To allow such a important piece of not just musical, but cultural, history close, to be replaced with some sort of trendy coffee shop, would be a massive slight to all. Please allow the shop to stay open whatever way you can. We realise that you run a business, but take in your heart to allow some compassion towards a long running, fondly remembered store.Flag

Name: JW Roche on Jun 13, 2010Comments: The only reason that I don't shop at Spillers more often is because I am unemployed & therefore cannot afford to buy the music that I want as often as I want. Forcing Spillers to close will only add to the unemployment figures. SAVE SPILLERS SAVE THE VULCAN Two of Cardiff's oldest establishments being forced to go because of uncaring planners/ big business.Flag

Name: Jon Clay on Jun 17, 2010Comments: Spillers is one of a dying breed of record shops and must be saved, not only for this reason, but because it serves as a great and useful service to the public of Cardiff. Increasing rents to unaffordable levels will eventually force out ALL independent shops, and make such properties affordable to only the multi-chain nationals. OK for landlords... for a while.... until the backlash starts.Flag
