In 2012 the NYC Department of Transportation (DOT) studied the problem of speeding vehicles on Cannon Place between Giles Place and Orloff Avenue. DOT concluded three speed bumps (or speed "humps"), which force vehicles to slow to 20mph, should be installed. The installation has been scheduled twice, once years ago and more recently on August 12, 2015. Twice the installation has been stopped at the last minute. As residents of the neighborhood and concerned citizens we support the decision of DOT to install these traffic calming "humps" on Cannon Place and ask Community Board 8 to support their installation without further delay.
