The Special Diabetes Program is designed to fund research for Type 1 diabetes. The legislation would renew the Special Diabetes Program for five years and include $200 million per year in federal funding for Type 1 diabetes research at the National Institutes of Health. This bill will help researchers have opportunities that will improve the lives of people with diabetes, prevent the onset of diabetes in others and bring us closer to finding a cure.
